Welcome to the Holy Isle Artist blog. My name is Martin Davies and I was a resident volunteer on the Holy Isle, a small island off the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland, during 2010. This is a record of the environmental art that I made during the year.

Three boulders:
mud from the loch on the hill
sand from the low-tide shore

Driftwood and Rope Sculpture No2, August 2010


An improvised sculpture made out of available pieces of drift material.
The tension of the rope, weighted with the rock held the upright pole in place.
